Founded in 1970, Dakota County Technical College opened its doors in South St. Paul under the name Dakota County Area Vocational Technical Institute. In January, 1971, 47 students enrolled in three different majors. Today, Dakota County Technical College is located in Rosemount, Minnesota, in a 500,000 square-foot facility situated on 200 acres of land. The college boasts an enrollment of nearly 15,000 students per year - approximately 5,000 credit-based students and more than 10,000 students serviced through the customized training division. Dakota County Technical College's mission - to provide education for employment - is a top priority. The college has one of the highest job placement percentages in the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system.
